College of Computer and Communication Engineering (CCCE) is one of the thirteen educational institutions in China University of Petroleum. Its predecessor was founded in 1984, named Computer Science Department, which changed into a college in 2001. CCCE has a history of more than 20 years. Compared to other colleges, our history is a bit short, but we are constantly growing and expanding, and have become one of the important general professional colleges of CUP. Now there are three bachelor majors: Computer Science and Technology, Software Engineering and Communication Engineering; two master majors: Computer Application Technology and Computer Software and Theory; three engineering master majors: Communication Engineering, Software Engineering and Computer Technology; One doctorate awarded point: Computer Technology and Resource Information Engineering (which is a rank one study of Geological Resources and Geological Engineering). In addition, our college operates extensive cooperation with leading IT companies, and has established Custom training system, for example Neusoft class, LANGCHAO class and ALPS class. In this way, the training of college students has been combined with enterprise internship. By now, we have cultivated about 2700 bachelors and 1000 masters. Right now there are about 1400 undergraduates and 130 postgraduates in college.
  CCCE has five teaching departments: Department of Computer Application Technology, Department of Computer Science, Department of Software Engineering, Department of Communication Engineering and Department of Computer Systems Engineering; one research institute: Institute of Computer Application Technology (including four research rooms: Computer Application Technology, Network and Artificial Intelligence, Reservoir Information, Oil and Information and Graphics Technology of Gas Fields); one professional lab (including Computing Center, CISCO Network Technology Lab, Network Engineering Lab, Computer Repair and Maintenance Lab, Embedded System Lab, Communication Engineering Laboratory, Microcontroller Interface Lab, Computer Control Technology Lab, Software Engineering Lab, Software Technology Lab, DSP Technology Lab, EDA/SOPC Lab, Communication High-frequency Electronics Lab, Computer System Architecture Lab, Embedded Mobile Communication lab, Students Creative Lab); we have many cooperation teaching or training department, such as CISCO Network Technology Academy, SUN SAI Training Institute of Technical Education, NCIE National Information Engineering Certified Training Center, BoChuang Embedded Technology Certified Training Center; besides we can commit CISCO、SUN、NCNE、NCSE、NCRE technical training and certification. Our college also has one executive office. The College now has 120 faculties, including 85 full-time teachers, 24 lab staff, 11 office staff, in which there are six professors and 35 associate professors. The teaching and research condition is quite good in college, which has advanced research and teaching laboratory equipment. Besides the construction of laboratory and other educational infrastructure is perfect. The Compute Centre of college is the largest computer room in school, with more than 300 computers for students. The college has fixed assets of up to 1700 million. All of them have laid a solid material foundation for students to enhance their abilities of analyzing issues, solving problems and practical working. College commits the National Computer Rank Examination and Shandong Province Computer Literacy Exam twice a year. Each time the number of people who take the exam is more than 4,000 people. Alumni and enterprises support the college much and set special scholarships and grants for students.
  In order to ensure the quality of teaching, the college gives priority to teaching and puts emphasis on basic training and capacity building, particularly the ability of engineering practice and training exercises. The college constantly deepens teaching reformation, strengthens education management, continuously reforms curriculum system, teaching content and teaching methods. As a result, the quality of teaching has improved steadily and the students have a solid theoretical foundation, well-trained engineering ability and the strong ability to work independently. The computer application ability of the students who are non-computer majors has been praised by employing units, professional graduates has been widely welcomed by the society. The employment rate has been remaining at above 85%.
  Computer science and technology is one of the emerging discipline subjects in school during “Ninth Five Year Plan” period and “211” project. In the second-phase construction of “Tenth Five Year Plan” and “211” project, it has been selected one of the school's seven academic subjects group construction. In recent years, College takes active research in many areas and has made many outstanding achievements in these areas.  These areas are computer graphics and image processing, network and WEB services, high-performance computing, information processing and intelligence testing, database technology and application and so on. College has undertaken a number of high level research projects of 863 projects, the National Natural Science Fund, the provincial and ministerial level vertical, horizontal projects, with an annual research funding of 300 million Yuan; college has published many articles in some important international conferences (IEEE, ACM), the foreign journals and “Chinese Journal of Computer”, “Chinese Journal of Electronics”, “Journal of Electronics and Information Technology”, “Chinese Journal of Communications” and other national papers, a number of scientific researches win awards each year.
